Things that aren't recognized as great can still be key for success. In the NBA, defensive players get snubbed very often. Great offensive players get recognized by being all stars and MVPs, while there is only one prize for great defensive players. You can see this in the All-Star votes, Kyrie Irving, a player who has a great offensive game, but looks lost on most defensive possessions, but he got to be an All-Star starter. While Andre Drummond has a limited offensive game, but is a monster on the glass and defending, and he wasn't even on the bench for the all-star game. I understand that the NBA does some of that stuff for the fans sake, because, let's be honest, who watches a basketball game just for the defense. Fans always love offense because to a casual fan, that's what wins games. I think that the NBA should give defensive players some other recognition besides one prize. No matter where they excel, players of equal skill should get equal recognition.
